A junior astronaut fulfills a dream of going to the moon. Once there, exhilaration gives way to reality. But what has been left behind? Created in a colorful, prismatic, 2D graphic style with a haunting soundtrack that echoes with loneliness.

 

2. My Turn!

One sunny morning in Jakarta, Indonesia, Beth and her younger sister Liz become fierce rivals in their race to the bathroom. Beth regrets unintentionally hurting her little sister during the scuffle, and they both realize how much they care about each other.

This short film embraces the charm of 2D animation, paying homage to the classic styles of Saturday morning cartoons. At its core, My Turn! is about director Isabelle Tumboimbela’s childhood experiences growing up with her younger sister. This film hopes to provide Southeast Asian representation to the animation medium.

 

3. Sally Chooses Adventure

When left with no options, Sally draws the only conclusion possible: choosing her own adventure.

 

4. Poor Tom

In Victorian England, a young boy who doesn’t have the use of his legs discovers God and the Bible. Soon, he figures out how he can still reach others, even while stuck in his meagre room in a London tenement house.

5. The Esteemed Priority

The Esteemed Priority is a short, animated film using silhouette puppets on a journey that shows the true meaning of love.

 

6. There is a Moose

A whimsical and energetic narrative portrait of The Moose, whose character and unusual behaviors are told with music, live action, footage of Moose in their natural habitat & animation. The soundtrack expresses his personality with the groove and guitars of surf rock, the mystery and danger of the ’60s spy genre, a rap-styled vocal and a big-band climax, all driven by a throbbing jungle beat. The lyrics are displayed in colorful subtitles.

7. One Giant Waddle

A group of penguins watching the moon landing gets jealous of the astronauts’ constant bragging about taking giant steps. While the penguins watching are stuck on Earth, with gravity keeping their steps so tiny that their walking style is mockingly referred to as waddling.

8. Love Photosynthesis

Within the microscopic realm of a leaf, Water embarks on an improbable love story with Chloroplast with the duo struggle to overcome their differences. Battling to unify it triggers a transformative journey for the pair, and others around them.

9. Bird Drone

A heartfelt story of unrequited love is explored through a lonely seagull struggling to accept that his newfound object of affection

is a human-operated drone with a limited battery life.

10. Scavengers

Pinpin, a small tinkerer made of found objects, and Matilda, an origami yellow-billed magpie, reside in a backyard full of abandoned items. One day, an alluring bottle cap flips over the fence and into their yard. The tenacious tinkerer and the mischievous magpie both decide they must have it for themselves, initiating a rivalry where they test their limits for the treasure they have desperately searched for.

 

11. Sent

Gullible Thulile (7) embarks on her first trip to the shop alone, gets distracted by cunning Swazi until she can’t find her way home.

 

12. Pop Fly

After missing a game-winning pop fly, a young boy confronts his fear of the ball through a strange encounter on his ride home.
