3. A Life of Intent: Growing Desert Roots

At 19, Shelly suffered a serious traumatic brain injury that marked the beginning of her adult life. She began documenting her journey through photos, and this habit became a passion that led her on a brave path toward acceptance and meaning-making. Set in the peaceful and beautiful landscapes of the Southwest, Shelly tells her story in her own words and shares how nature, photography and human connection helped her transcend her circumstances and live a life marked by resilience and creativity: a life of intent.

4. Closer

A woman relives her journey on this planet in the pursuit of belonging. Only through the acceptance of the world around her, she can find her true self. Or, is it the other way round?

5. Sanctuary: Part III

SANCTUARY addresses the timely theme of isolation and finding connection, while challenging the viewer’s perspective. In losing one’s sense of gravity, a familiar setting suddenly becomes magical. The pews act as barriers as well as a meeting place for people to ultimately find hope in the midst of suffering.

6. Prana

Rodrigo Espino is an aspiring artist/producer at the tail-end of a three-year-long musical journey consisting of unadulterated joys, laboured hardships, and everything in between. We join Rod in studio D9, a regular home away from home where he has spent countless hours meticulously composing, playing, and producing each layer of his upcoming release, “The Only Thing I Felt”, a part of his band’s debut album. Through the lens of fellow band member and guitarist Sam Harris, we are granted access to a day in the life of studio production; their camaraderie fosters a participatory experience as we walk through Rod’s artistic process step by step. The fear of the unknown, the unforgiving grind, the constant distractions, the temptation of burnout, and that shrinking light at the end of the tunnel; this is PRANA.

7. i’ve tried to talk it through

A woman’s journey to join her friends at a lake is hindered by the burden of a goldfish aquarium she must carry.

8. Fountain

A sacred, multidisciplinary, site-specific screendance which explores the symbolism and significance of water in spiritual renewal, based in the Christian tradition. Featuring a full choir and ensemble of dancers, the film expresses yearning for the afterlife and the joy and peace found.

9. Hurricane

Directed by Mann Friday’s very own drummer, Michele Benigna, “Hurricane” ventures into the heart of a tempestuous love story, showcasing the raw intensity and powerful resurgence of emotion amidst the rugged coastline of Wellington, New Zealand. Renowned as a veteran filmmaker and award-winning visual effects artist at Peter Jackson’s WETA FX, Benigna has masterfully crafted a cinematic exploration of the consequences of a broken love.

Shot amid the breathtaking vistas of Wellington’s coastline, the video unfolds with the subtlety of a whisper, only to erupt into a whirlwind of emotion at the faintest recollection. Drawing inspiration from the visceral imagery of David Lynch and the meticulous aesthetic of Stanley Kubrick, “Hurricane” seamlessly blends raw intensity with subconscious allure, creating an immersive experience that lingers long after the final frame.
